“Şairler Sultanı”nı Bâkî’yi Anmak ve Anlamak

Klasik Türk edebiyatının zirve isimlerinden biri olan Bâkî (1526-1600), Osmanlı şiirinde yüzyıllar boyunca “Sultânu’ş-Şuarâ” unvanıyla anılmış ve şiir sanatına yön vermiş müstesna bir şahsiyettir. Bâkî, gerek yaşadığı dönemde gerekse sonrasında edebî zevki şekillendiren, şiir ve sanat anlayışını derinden etkileyen bir şair olmuştur.
UNESCO’nun 2026 yılı anma ve kutlama programına Bâkî’nin doğum yıl dönümünü dâhil etmesi, onun yalnızca Türk edebiyatı için değil, dünya kültür mirası açısından da taşıdığı evrensel değerin bir göstergesidir. Doğumunun 500. yılı vesilesiyle İstanbul Medeniyet Üniversitesi ev sahipliğinde, usta şairi Osmanlı araştırmaları sahasındaki yeni çalışmalar ve farklı bakış açıları çerçevesinde çeşitli yönleriyle ele almayı amaçlayan uluslararası bir sempozyum düzenlenecektir.
Bu sempozyum Bâkî’nin edebî kimliğini, eserlerini, edebiyat tarihi içindeki yerini ve tesirini derinlemesine ele almanın yanında yaşadığı dönemin tarihî, sosyal ve kültürel zeminini de disiplinlerarası bir yaklaşımla değerlendirmeyi hedeflemektedir. Klasik Türk edebiyatı, edebiyat tarihi, filoloji, tarih, sosyal ve kültürel tarih, Türk dili, dil bilimi, sanat tarihi, yazma eser bilimi ve Osmanlı araştırmaları gibi alanlarda çalışan araştırmacıların katılımına açık olan bu etkinlik, Bâkî ve dönemi ekseninde çok yönlü bir bilimsel buluşma zemini sunacaktır.
Bâkî’nin eserlerinde hayat bulan estetik, zarafet ve kudreti, bu mirası şekillendiren tarihî, sosyal ve kültürel arka planla birlikte değerlendirmek ve bilim dünyasına sunmak üzere ilgili tüm araştırmacıları bu sempozyuma davet ediyoruz.

Commemorating and Understanding Bâkî, the “Sultan of Poets,”
on the 500th Anniversary of His Birth

Bâkî (1526–1600), one of the most eminent figures of Classical Turkish literature, was honored with the title Sultān al-Shuʿarāʾ (“Sultan of Poets”) for centuries in Ottoman poetry and stands out as an exceptional poet who profoundly shaped the art of poetry. Both during his lifetime and in the centuries that followed, Bâkî played a decisive role in forming literary taste and influencing poetic and aesthetic sensibilities.
UNESCO’s inclusion of the anniversary of Bâkî’s birth in its 2026 Commemorations and Anniversaries Programme is a clear indication of his universal significance, not only for Turkish literature but also for the world’s cultural heritage. On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of his birth, an international symposium will be organized under the auspices of Istanbul Medeniyet University, aiming to examine the master poet from multiple perspectives and within the framework of new research in the field of Ottoman studies.
In addition to an in-depth exploration of Bâkî’s literary identity, works, position in literary history, and influence, the symposium also seeks to evaluate the historical, social, and cultural context of his time through an interdisciplinary approach. Open to scholars working in fields such as Classical Turkish literature, literary history, philology, history, social and cultural history, Turkish language, linguistics, art history, manuscript studies, and Ottoman studies, this event will provide a multifaceted scholarly platform centered on Bâkî and his era.
We invite all interested researchers to participate in this symposium in order to examine and present to the academic community the aesthetic refinement, elegance, and poetic power embodied in Bâkî’s works, together with the historical, social, and cultural background that shaped this legacy.
